Horizon Medical Products, Inc. Launches Innovative Line Enhancements.

Business Editors

ATLANTA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 6, 2004

Horizon Medical Products, Inc. (Amex: HMP HMP - hybrid multiprocessing ) today announced the launch of two new products within its family of Vortex(R) MP Ports and LifeGuard(TM) safety infusion needles - both engineered to further increase the performance levels and safety for the patient and caregiver.

The first is an expansion of HMP's family of Vortex(R) MP ports to include the FluoroMax(TM) high-radiopacity silicone catheter option. The polyurethane version launched February 17, 2004. The small dimension of the Vortex(R) MP in the silicone configurations also adds a new option for the smaller patient community who prefer this catheter material for more delicate vasculature vasculature /vas·cu·la·ture/ (vas´ku-lah-chur)

HMP also announced an enhancement to their LifeGuard(TM) safety infusion needles with the addition of a valved needless access connector or NAC See network access control. . The incorporation of the new valve eliminates four previously required steps, which makes the LifeGuard(TM) significantly quicker and easier for clinicians to use than the previous version. This enhancement reduces the risk of air entering the system, resulting in an even safer product for the patient and caregiver.

Kyle Coddington, product manager for HMP, commented, "The LifeGuard(TM) line of safety infusion needles has been successful since its debut in 2002. The addition of the LifeGuard(TM) NAC will help further strengthen our leadership position."
