Horiba to Acquire Schenck-Development Test Systems.Tokyo, Japan, Aug 19, 2005 - (JCNN JCNN Japan Corporate News Network ) - Horiba agreed on the acquisition of Schenck-Development Test Systems (DTS (1) (Digital Theatre Sound) A digital audio encoding system used in movie and home theaters. Popularized by the movie Jurassic Park, the six-channel (5. ), a German manufacturer of automotive testing equipment, from Carl Schenck of Germany. Horiba is expected to invest 5 billion yen ($45 mil) in the new venture over the next 3 years. Horiba will transfer DTS branches and resources in 12 countries to Horiba's Engine Measurement Division with the aim of adding powertrain research and development to its emission measurement business.
