Honoria, Rome & America.Regarding Taylor Taylor, city (1990 pop. 70,811), Wayne co., SE Mich., a suburb of Detroit adjacent to Dearborn; founded 1847 as a township, inc. as a city 1968. A small rural village until World War II, it developed significantly in the second half of the 20th cent. Caldwell's story "Honoria" (October October: see month. 6 issue), I am familiar with her writing and her style. The United States is the world's third largest country in population and the fourth largest country in area. fits the picture of the "Rise of Empire," described by Garet Garrett Garet Garrett (1878–1954) was an American journalist and author who was noted for his critiques of the New Deal and U.S. involvement in the Second World War. Early years Garet Garrett was born in 1878 in Illinois. in his book The People's Pottage, published in 1953 by The Caxton Printers Ltd. In answer to Taylor Caldwell's question in her final paragraph, may I quote from Mr. Garrett: "One must see that on the road to Empire there is soon a point from which there is no turning back."
