Honeywell Secures $3.7 Million Project at New Huntsman Petrochemicals Plant.

Experion PKS R300 to Ensure Safety and Efficiency at UK Polyethylene Plant

LONDON -- Honeywell (NYSE:HON) today announced a $3.7 million contract to provide its Experion[R] Process Knowledge System R300 (PKS) along with other select technologies from across the Honeywell Automation and Control Solutions (ACS) portfolio for Huntsman's new polyethylene plant in Wilton, UK, due to open in 2007. The comprehensive solution will allow Huntsman to maximize efficiencies, reduce costs, ensure safe operations and ease Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) integration.

The single plant-wide automation system will be provided through engineering contractor Simon Carves Limited and will include Honeywell C300 controllers, integrated safety systems and process field device integration, through Honeywell's PKS Advantage[TM] Program. Additionally, Huntsman was able to utilize multiple technologies from other Honeywell ACS business including the Honeywell Digital Video Manager (DVM), Honeywell Analytics gas detection and site security and fire detection using Honeywell's Enterprise Building Integrator[TM] (EBI) building management system.

"This new plant is expected to produce 400,000 tonnes of polyethylene per year, significantly increasing the total polyethylene output of the UK chemical industry," said Gary Burns, project CEI manager, Huntsman European Base Chemicals & Polymers. "Experion R300 will help Huntsman ensure exact quality standards while enabling the production of high quantities of product."

Huntsman's new plant will turn raw gaseous material into polyethylene chips that can be further processed to produce everyday plastic items such as shopping bags and food packaging. Because the process is extremely reactive, the Experion R300 will monitor all control valves, motors and diagnostics to identify and rectify potential problems.

In addition, Honeywell building management solutions such as Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) security and telecommunications will be integrated with the system to further increase plant safety. Honeywell will also provide a range of business and engineering services throughout the design and implementation of the project.
