Honeywell Launches Bendix/King Data Link Weather Ground Station Network.

:HON) today announced that its Bendix/King general aviation avionics business has completed the design and development of its data link weather ground station network and installation of its first supercell consisting of seven ground stations.

The stations in this supercell are at Olathe, Independence and Lyons, Kan.; Lincoln, Neb.; Des Moines, Iowa “Des Moines” redirects here. For other uses, see Des Moines (disambiguation).

; and Columbia and Springfield, Mo. Additional stations are installed at Oshkosh, Wis., and Lansing and Galesburg, Ill. All are part of a flight information service (FIS FIS n abbr (BRIT) (= Family Income Supplement) → ayuda estatal familiar ) network that will have a total of 200 stations.

Basic text weather products are available at no cost to pilots who equip their aircraft with a KDR 510 and KMD 550/850. Unlimited access to graphical weather products is available for a subscription fee.

The ground network transmits data at a 31.5k bit per second rate, equivalent to the typical speeds used for Internet access See how to access the Internet.  today. This data rate is required to support the timely broadcast of the advanced weather products offered by the system.
