Honest appraisal of Lincoln.THE NEW AMERICAN is to be commended for reviewing and publicizing DiLorenzo's The Real Lincoln ("An Honest Look at Abe," March 20 issue). In a situation that could have been settled peaceably peace·a·ble adj. 1. Inclined or disposed to peace; promoting calm: They met in a peaceable spirit. 2. Peaceful; undisturbed. and amicably, Lincoln deliberately chose war. He acted in a dictatorial and tyrannical manner that resulted in the death of over 500,000 and the devastation of the South, plus the repression of liberties in the North. The record of Lincoln was a prelude to our bloody 20th century and the deplorable circumstances in which we find our country today. DiLorenzo has merely given us an honest appraisal of Lincoln, just like Robert Welch Robert Welch may refer to:
