Honda to form motorcycle manufacturing unit in India.

Honda Motor Co. said Friday it will set up a wholly owned
subsidiary Wholly Owned Subsidiary
A subsidiary whose parent company owns 100% of its common stock.

at an initial pace of 100,000 units a year, by the second half of 2001
at a new plant to be built near Delhi. Honda said it plans to raise the
annual output to 200,000 units by 2004 and production of 4-stroke
motorcycles is also planned in the future. Honda said it will invest 4
billion yen in the new plant. In India, Honda now manufacturers
motorcycles at Hero Honda Hero Honda Motors Ltd is the World's largest manufacturer of motorcycles (by quantity). Hero Honda is a 50:50 joint venture that began in 1984 between the Hero group of India and Honda from Japan. Motors Ltd., a joint venture with the Hero
group, and scooters at Kinetic Motor Co. under a technical
collaboration agreement.
