Hon Hai Precision Ind. taps Xbox360 supply chain.

Taipei, Oct. 19, 2009 (CENS) -- Hon Hai Precision Industry Co., the world's largest provider of electronic manufacturing services, has reportedly tapped the supply chain of Microsoft Corp.'s Xbox360 game consoles, following its acquisition of orders to supply Sony Corp. with PS3 game consoles.

Hon Hai Group's Q-Run Technology Corp. is one of Nintendo Co.'s major suppliers of Wii game consoles.

Goldman Sachs Asia said Hon Hai had performed incredibly in sales in September and such growth dynamics will continue into October, driven by its landing of Microsoft's order for Xbox game consoles. In addition, Hon Hai will be shipping significantly more Apple Computer's iMac and Macbook PCs, Hewlett Packard's printers, and Amazon and Sony's e-books.

Credit Suisse Securities noted the increased sales of Sony's innovative thin-type PS3 game consoles will help Hon Hai continue its brilliant sales in the months to come. Sony is expected to ship six million PS3 game consoles in the fourth quarter of this year, triple that of the preceding quarter.

The upcoming Xmas shopping season is expected to drive up the world's shipment of game consoles in the fourth quarter to 2.45 times that of the previous quarter.

Hon Hai scored NT$149.4 billion (US$4.63 billion at US$1:NT$32.2) in sales in September, a record high in 10 months and the third-highest monthly record in history. Many foreign securities firms have recently upward adjusted the investment rating for Hon Hai.
