The new brand standard calls for all Homewood Suites by Hilton hotels to install high speed Internet access in 100 percent of their guest suites, in at least one meeting room, and to provide wireless access in the hotel's lobby area -- "the Lodge" and business center. An additional 50 hotels in various stages of design will also be equipped to offer the amenity. High speed Internet access will be complimentary at some locations, while others may opt to charge a nominal fee of up to $9.95 per day. Guests will have high speed Internet access in all areas of the hotel, including guest suites, whether it is a complimentary amenity or a fee is charged. With high speed Internet access throughout the entire hotel, guests have maximum flexibility in accessing the Internet during their stay.

"The question of high speed Internet access has never been `if' for us, but `when,'" said Jim Holthouser, senior vice president, brand management. "We feel now is the time to stay ahead of the technology curve, particularly for our extended stay guests who are migrating toward hotels with high speed Internet access. The April 1st deadline gives our owners the opportunity to budget and the time to find the best service provider that meets their needs."

The new high speed Internet plan is also included in Homewood Suites by Hilton's 100% Satisfaction Guarantee, which ensures guests complete satisfaction with every aspect of their stay or that room night is free.

"We have been closely monitoring the evolution of high speed Internet access for many months. Our research shows that companies and business travelers view this amenity as an added benefit and are willing to pay a reasonable fee if it is available," added Holthouser. "As consumer demand grows and technology continues to change, we will remain proactive about this issue. If guest demand necessitates complimentary high speed Internet access across the brand, we are certainly prepared to follow that course."
