Homeschoolers meet again.


Edmonton--The third annual Western Canadian Catholic Home School Conference took place June 10-12, 1999, on the twin feasts of the Sacred Heart The Sacred Heart is a religious devotion to Jesus' physical heart as the representation of the divine love for humanity

This devotion is predominantly used in the Roman Catholic Church and also used in the Anglican Church.

Keynote speaker Cornelia Ferreira (Toronto) told the 300 in attendance about new-age influences in our modern school systems, and discussed the difference between authentic Catholic education (ordered toward salvation and service to God) and Global education (a "blend of totalitarianism and experimental psychology").Other speakers included lawyer Dallas Miller (of the Home School Legal Defense Assoc.); Frs. Paul Moret and Sylvain Casavant, who spoke on papal encyclicals; a panel of four priests who answered questions from the floor; a graduates' panel, who described the benefits of completing high school at home; and panels of mothers and fathers, who provided information and encouragement to homeschooling home·school or home-school

Participants also enjoyed daily Mass and rosary rosary [rose garden], prayer of Roman Catholics, in which beads are used as counters. It is bordered by Minnesota, across the Red River of the North (E), South Dakota (S), Montana (W), and the Canadian provinces of Saskatchewan and Manitoba (N). . In the patristic period through the Middle Ages the focus of the homily was on the explanation and application of texts read or sung during the  at the closing Mass, Fr. Foeckler encouraged the faithful to imitate Mary, our model of obedience. Mrs. Ferreira likewise exhorted parents to devote themselves to the Immaculate and Sacred Hearts. She stressed that the education of children is "the most important evangelical work that parents can undertake."
