The attacks happened between 5.05pm and 5.15pm on Monday and police believe the same person or people were responsible. Half of a house brick narrowly missed a chair where one of the pensioners sits in her living room. A woman whose window was smashed and who wanted to remain anonymous said she didn't feel comfortable in the area anymore. The estate backs onto a playing field and last night groups of youngsters were gathered playing or chatting. Hemlington Ward officer, PC Brian Hughff, said: "As a result of these incidents we will be stepping up patrols in and around the estate, particularly in the lead-up to Halloween and Bonfire Night."
