DON'T EXPECT TO find too many out-of-town acts hitting town during this holiday week, but the clubs are fully flocked with local and regional music. Just look at today's lineup:

Ashleigh Flynn, Thais Perkins and Jill Cohn Jill Cohn is an American pianist, guitarist, and singer-songwriter. Previously based in Seattle, Washington, she now makes her home in Mexico City, D.F., when she's not touring in the United States.  at Sam Bond's Garage, 411 Blair Blvd., at 9:30 p.m., and the cover is $3 to $5 on a sliding scale; Wallace, the Visible Men and Vinegar at John Henry's, 136 E. 11th Ave., at 10 p.m., $3; the U-Gene Band at Chez chez

Also today, you can get down to the funky sounds of Papa's Soul Kitchen at the Downtown Lounge, 959 Pearl St., and give to a good cause. The last time Papa and his band hosted a benefit to support FOOD for Lane County, the group raised $350 dollars and 300 pounds of food.

The eight-piece funk and soul band hopes to bring in even more food and cash donations at today's benefit, which gets under way at 10 p.m. The group will preview songs from its upcoming album, "Guardians of the Funk." The cover is three cans of food or a $3 donation.

For a more subdued version of Papa's Soul Kitchen, check it out Saturday at Sam Bond's Garage, 407 Blair Blvd. The show is at 9:30 p.m. The cover is $3 to $5.
