This year's National Book Club Conference convenes in Ghana, West Africa, August 4-12, 2007, to celebrate its fifth anniversary.

In addition to some of the familiar American authors, the roster will include Ekow Eshun, the Ghanaian-born author of Black Gold of the Sun: Searching for Home in Africa and Beyond (Pantheon, 2006), which is described as a moving and insightful documentation of Ekow's return to Africa from his home in London to learn about his homeland; and Akosua Busia, author of The Seasons of Beento Blackbird (Little, Brown & Co., 1996), a novel that spans from Ghana to London, to the United States and to the Caribbean.
