Das has invited several of kathak's most illustrious practitioners--including Birju Maharaj, Kumudini Lakhia, and Saswati Sen--as well as emerging dancers to participate. The festival will place the emphasis on the kathak solo and the ways in which performers can increase the visibility of their tradition. Academic presentations, lecture-demonstrations, and panel discussions will complement the dancing; and, yes, students from Das' own school will appear, too.
