In the article "Preparing to Buy A Home" in the March 2006 issue, I noticed that it talked about preparing a budget, but didn't did·n't

, and something I've seen too often is our people being given loans for homes and encouraged to buy as much as we can afford for tax purposes, with no consideration given to property upkeep and maintenance.

Building wealth is important, but not taking care of the biggest asset most Americans have is a waste of money. Please encourage our people to consider home upkeep when configuring their budget, so our homes appreciate, especially in neighborhoods primarily occupied by minorities. Buying homes to build wealth but not maintaining them is living beyond our means and is just as bad as losing ground in any other area of our finances.
