Home Depot antes $375,000 for LEED-Home Rating System development.

 Foundation awarded a $375,000 grant to the U.S. Green Building Council to help with the development of the Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design for Homes Rating System.

The LEED for Homes Rating System is a voluntary initiative promoting the home building industry to adopt more environmental practices.

The grant supports the development of the LEED for Homes Rating System with a special "Initiative for Affordable Housing." It will include a reference manual; a pilot demonstration of LEED for Homes in six markets; and new affordable housing training sessions at the Greenbuild International Conference and Exposition exposition or exhibition, term frequently applied to an organized public fair or display of industrial and artistic productions, designed usually to promote trade and to reflect cultural progress.  scheduled this November November: see month.  in Atlanta Atlanta (ətlăn`tə, ăt–), city (1990 pop. 394,017), state capital and seat of Fulton co., NW Ga., on the Chattahoochee R. and Peachtree Creek, near the Appalachian foothills; inc. 1847. .

a national partnership with the U.S. Green Building Council to develop LEED for homes," said Kelly Caffarelli, executive director of the Home Depot Foundation. "The need for a nationally recognized standard in environmentally sound and healthy home construction is critically important."
