Home Builders recognize NJ professional.Leonard R. Sendelsky, of Colonia, N.J., was recognized last week by the National Association of Home Builders The National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) is one of the largest trade associations in the United States. Headquartered in Washington, DC, the association organizes one of the largest conventions in North America, The International Builders' Show, which draws more than for his lifetime achievements as a one of the housing industry's most dedicated professionals. Sendelsky was inducted into the NAHB's National Housing Hall of Fame. A second-generation home builder, Leonard R. "Lenny" Sendelsky was born in Perth Amboy Perth Amboy (ăm`boi), city (1990 pop. 41,962), Middlesex co., NE N.J., with a harbor on Arthur Kill at the mouth of the Raritan River, which is crossed there to Staten Island, N.Y., by the Outerbridge Crossing (1928); settled 1683, inc. , N.J. and formed the Lenguy Construction Corp. in 1958. Throughout his nearly 50 years in the industry, he has overseen construction of more than 3,000 homes and apartments in addition to many commercial and industrial buildings. Along the way, he has achieved many leadership positions in the local building industry and earned the highest respect of his industry peers, who have honored him with a long list of awards. The Central Jersey Builders Association, on whose board Sendelsky has served for the last 46 years--including as its president in 1964--named him "Builder of the Year" twice (in 1966 and again in 1989), and the New Jersey (state) Builders Association (NJBA NJBA New Jersey Broadcasters Association NJBA National Jet Boat Association NJBA New Jersey Beekeepers Association ) has also honored him with that title twice (in 1967 and 1989). He also helped found the Institute of Multifamily Housing of the NJBA, where he served as chairman from 1986-87.
