Home, business expo scheduled.

NORTHBRIDGE - The 10th annual Blackstone Valley Home & Business Expo will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. tomorrow at Northbridge High School, Linwood Ave.

The annual event has grown to include more than 100 area businesses and associations, and offers business people and the public alike the opportunity to learn about locally available goods and services In economics, economic output is divided into physical goods and intangible services. Consumption of goods and services is assumed to produce utility (unless the "good" is a "bad"). It is often used when referring to a Goods and Services Tax. , ranging from banking, insurance, home improvement and tourism to health care, medical, environmental and social service work. There will be opportunities for networking and to explore employment and volunteer opportunities. Officials at the Blackstone Valley Chamber of Commerce anticipate that between 3,000 and 5,000 people will attend this year's event.

Among the highlights of the expo will be the 10th annual Chowder chowder, stew of fish or shellfish with potatoes, onions, and pork (usually salt pork), thickened with crumbled hard bread. The name chowder seems to have originated from the French word chaudière  Fest, held from noon to 2 p.m., during which several restaurateurs from the Blackstone Valley compete for the title of Best Chowder in the Valley as determined by a vote of the public. This year's chowder contest is sponsored by Milford Regional Medical Center Milford Regional Medical Center (Milford Regional) is the hospital division of Milford Regional Healthcare System, Inc., a comprehensive healthcare system that includes the Visiting Nurse Association of the Greater Milford-Northbridge Area and Tri-County Medical Associates, Inc. .
