Dan Meihak has been named executive director of herd advancement services at Holstein Holstein, former duchy, N central Germany, the part of Schleswig-Holstein S of the Eider River. Kiel and Rendsburg were the chief cities. For a description of Holstein and for its history after 1814, see Schleswig-Holstein. For a time part of the duchy of Saxony, Holstein was created (1111) a county of the Holy Roman Empire and was bestowed on Adolf of Schauenburg. Association USA in Brattleboro Brattleboro (brăt`əlbûr'ə), town (1990 pop. 12,241), Windham co., SE Vt., on the Connecticut River; chartered 1753. Once an artists' colony, Brattleboro has become a sports center and resort town. There is light manufacturing., Vt. Meihak previously worked in marketing for the Brown Swiss Association. Prior to working for Brown Swiss, Meihak worked as a dairy consultant and nutrition sales coordinator. Prior to that he was herdsman/operations manager and part owner of a Wisconsin Holstein herd from 1984 to 1996.
