It'd be a shame to limit this autobiography to the young adult audience it's intended for: author Jack Gantos dreamed of writing from childhood and is a Newbery Honor The Newbery Honor is a citation given by the Association for Library Service to Children of the American Library Association (ALA). The Newbery Honor is given to worthy runners-up for the Newbery Medal, a higher honor.  medalist among others--but his road to fame wasn't a smooth one.
