When none of his fellow administrators in the Reese, Mich., school district, agreed to play the human victim in a pig-kissing display, Superintendent Curt Finch finch, common name for members of the Fringillidae, the largest family of birds (including over half the known species), found in most parts of the world except Australia.  intrepidly in·trep·id

As a local farmer held the cute baby pig at the gymnasium's center court surrounded by 50 small children who wanted a closer look, the superintendent bent down to kiss the animal on the snout snout

the upper lip and the apex of the nose, especially of the pig. Called also rostrum. Has a specialized skin to survive the rigors of rooting, is supported by a separate bone (the os rostri), and also has a few sensory hairs.
. The pig suddenly lunged at the superintendent, biting him on the end of the nose. Finch didn't realize anything was wrong until blood began to drip everywhere. The children were wide-eyed in astonishment.

For Finch, though, the night was not yet over. He still had to play in the faculty versus the community basketball game--and did so with a Band-Aid on the end of his nose.
