Hockey parent faces charge; 10-year-old allegedly hit.Byline: Donna Boynton WESTBORO - A 47-year-old Hopedale man was held without bail last night on charges that he assaulted a 10-year-old boy after a youth hockey league game at the North Star Youth Hockey Rink earlier this month. Richard Rosenberger of 3 Inman St., Hopedale, was arrested on a warrant at 6 last night at his home by Officer Jeff Keaveney and Sgt. Steve Reale. Mr. Rosenberger was charged with assault and battery on a child and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon (a shod foot). Mr. Rosenberger was held without bail and is scheduled to be arraigned in Westboro District Court today. The incident occurred March 3 at the North Star Youth Forum, 15 Bridle Lane. Police allege that Mr. Rosenberger was attending a hockey game at the rink between teams from Franklin and Tri-Valley, said Officer Keaveney. The boy was allegedly approached and assaulted by Mr. Rosenberger as he left the ice, Officer Keaveney said. "This gentleman has a son on one of the teams," said Officer Keaveney, adding that it was possible Mr. Rosenberger was responding to something that happened during the game. The child was not seriously injured, Officer Keaveney said. |
