Hitcom Corporation Subsidiary Channel Telecom Inc. Hires New Chief Technology Officer.

ST. LOUIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 13, 1999--Hitcom Corporation (Nasdaq OTC:HICO), a facilities-based telecommunications company, today reported that its subsidiary Channel Telecom Inc. has hired a Chief Technology Officer, Gilles Ferland.

Highlights of Ferland's experience is as follows:

-- 1997-Present, Director of Computing and Audio-Visual Services at the Royal Military College of Canada

-- 1995-1997, Associate Professor in Electrical and Computer Engineering at the Royal Military College of Canada

-- Ph.D in Electrical Engineering from Queens University obtained in 1992

-- M.A Sc. and B Sc. in Electrical Engineering from Laval University

-- Member of the Institute of Electrical Engineers

Ferland's experience has been broad based, encompassing leading and directing an information technology department, designing and implementing a PC-based Debit & Calling card platform, preparing and delivering various lectures and experiments in his field. Ferland has been a member of many professional committees and has had various journals and papers published in the Canadian Journal of Electrical and Computer Engineering.
