Hitachi to tie-up with Baron International Ltd to sell audio-visual products in the Indian market; Sales of Colour Televisions to begin in early April 1999.


MUMBAI, India--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 24, 1999--Hitachi Home Electronics Asia (S) Pte. Ltd., Singapore and Baron International Ltd, Mumbai today announced that they have entered into a comprehensive agreement for the Marketing, Sales and Distribution of Hitachi brand Audio Visual products in India.

Mr Kyohei Kasaba, Board Director, Group Executive, Consumer Products Group of Hitachi, Ltd., Japan commented as follows: "We are happy that our Audio Visual products are being introduced in India. We believe Baron International will be our long term partner in making Hitachi a strong and well known brand among Indian consumers. Baron International has a good track record and we are impressed with their marketing, sales and distribution strengths."

Mr Kabir Mulchandani, Chief Executive Officer, Baron International Limited, Mumbai said: "We are very pleased that Hitachi has chosen us as its partner. We are confident that Hitachi products, backed by Hitachi's superior technology and R&D, will be a big hit with Indian consumers."

The Agreement is now effective and the first batch of Colour TVs is expected to be introduced to the Indian market in the first week of April 1999.

Hitachi Consumer Products offer a complete range covering Colour TVs, Video Cameras, VCRs, Hi-Fi Systems and White goods like Refrigerators, Washing Machines (storage) washing machine - An old-style 14-inch hard disk in a floor-standing cabinet.
