Hitachi PC Ships One of the Industry's First 3Com Network Ready Notebooks; Hitachi VisionBook Elite Enhances Mobile Networking with Pre-installed 10BaseT LAN Solution.

, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 12, 1997--Continuing to meet the growing demand for network ready notebooks, Hitachi PC Corporation announced today one of the first 3Com Network Ready(tm) mobile computers in the industry -- the Hitachi VisionBook Elite. Shipping immediately, the Hitachi VisionBook Elite with a pre-installed 10BaseT LAN (Local Area Network) A communications network that serves users within a confined geographical area. The "clients" are the user's workstations typically running Windows, although Mac and Linux clients are also used.  PC Card by 3Com, is available through major distributors and resellers at an estimated street price of $4,399. The 3Com Network Ready logo certifies that Hitachi notebook networking components have been pre-installed and tested for maximum LAN/WAN LAN/WAN Local Area Network/Wide Area Network  network compatibility.

With the 3Com EtherLink(R) III LAN PC Card, the Hitachi VisionBook Elite will have the fastest direct access to an Ethernet network and in just minutes, users can have their Ethernet connection up and running without adjusting any settings. Every Hitachi VisionBook Elite ships complete with pre-installed drivers and a 3Com network interface product.

Weighing in under six pounds, the Hitachi VisionBook Elite provides flexibility as well as desktop capabilities. A fully-integrated mobile solution, the Hitachi VisionBook Elite features a 166MHz (MegaHertZ) One million cycles per second. It is used to measure the transmission speed of electronic devices, including channels, buses and the computer's internal clock. A one-megahertz clock (1 MHz) means some number of bits (16, 32, 64, etc.  Intel Pentium processor with MMX technology MMX technology - Matrix Math eXtensions , a 13.3-inch XGA (EXtended Graphics Array) A screen resolution of 1,024x768 pixels.
