Hitachi PC Introduces VisionBook Pro 6000 Series; The Company Rounds Out it's VisionBook Pro Offerings with a New Robust Entry-Level Corporate Notebook.


MILPITAS, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 4, 1998--Delivering Hitachi quality at an affordable price point, Hitachi PC Corporation today announced the new VisionBook Pro(tm) 6000 notebook series designed with a targeted feature set to meet the needs of specific corporate customers. Available in two models, the notebooks feature a 266MHz (MegaHertZ) One million cycles per second. It is used to measure the transmission speed of electronic devices, including channels, buses and the computer's internal clock. A one-megahertz clock (1 MHz) means some number of bits (16, 32, 64, etc.  Pentium processor, 12.1-inch TFT (Thin Film Transistor) The term typically refers to active matrix screens on laptop computers. Active matrix LCD provides a sharper screen display and broader viewing angle than does passive matrix. See LCD and thin film.

 display and choice of integrated 10/100 BaseT LAN (Local Area Network) A communications network that serves users within a confined geographical area. The "clients" are the user's workstations typically running Windows, although Mac and Linux clients are also used.  or 56Kbps(a) modem providing a simple and flexible communications solutions for accessing information on demand. Shipping mid-May, the Hitachi VisionBook Pro 6000 series has an estimated street price of $2,599.

In fact, this new notebook series shares accessories and a common form factor with the performance VisionBook Pro 7000 series."

Offering high reliability and ease of connectivity, the Hitachi VisionBook Pro 6000 series incorporate Intel's 266MHz Mobile Pentium See Pentium M.  Processor with MMX technology MMX technology - Matrix Math eXtensions  and 32MB RAM (expandable to 128MB). Additionally, the VisionBook Pro 6000 series offers flexibility with choice of an integrated 10/100BaseT LAN (63401 model) or 56Kbps modem (63402 model), allowing customers to select the most appropriate communications capabilities that suit specific user profiles.

Standard storage features include a 3.2 HDD (Hard Disk Drive) See hard disk and HDD caddy.

Additional features include two Type II or one Type III PC Card slot, IrDA 1.1 infrared and a USB port. Both notebooks are pre-loaded with Windows 95 and are Windows 98 compatible. Windows NT support is also available.
