The authentication server contains a database of user names, passwords and policies, and the authenticator physically for use on door handles and steering wheels. The system is embedded in a door handle in such a way that, when a hand grips the handle, the system emits light from the light source mounted in the handle to a finger and captures a clear image of the finger's dorsal vein patterns for authentication. The company has worked on the handle's shape so that the same part of the finger is always placed on the handle for the precise identification of the vein patterns. The company has also incorporated an image correction technology into the system to ensure stable authentication. Hitachi will demonstrate the system on a vehicle at the 39th Tokyo Motor Show The Tokyo Motor Show (東京モーターショー) is a biennial auto show held in October-November at the Makuhari Messe, Chiba City, Japan for cars, motorcycles and commercial vehicles. 2005 to be held at Makuhari Messe from October 22 to November 6.
