Hitachi Automotive achieves QS-9000, ISO-9001 certification.


HARRODSBURG, Ky--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 5, 1996--Hitachi Automotive Products (USA), Inc., Harrodsburg, Kentucky Harrodsburg, in Mercer County, Kentucky, is the oldest city in Kentucky. The population was 8,014 at the 2000 census. It is the county seat of Mercer CountyGR6. , a supplier of electronic and electrical automotive parts, has received certification/accreditation by assessment of Lloyds Registrar of Quality Assurance for both ISO- iso- or is-
pref.

9001 and QS-9000. Hitachi was the first Japanese-American company to be certified by Lloyds for QS- 9000 in the U.S.A.

Hitachi selected ISO-9001 based on the scope of its operation to meet the required elements of ISO (1) See ISO speed.

 (International Standards Organization See ISO. ). The QS-9000 Certification (Quality Systems) is based upon Hitachi being a first tier supplier to both Ford and General Motors.

Hitachi began its process for certification in March, 1994. The methodology for dual certification of both ISO and QS was an aggressive schedule for all employees. It required a great deal of dedicated work and self-discipline by all Hitachi team members. ISO is the formal process of establishing management responsibilities, departmental procedures, and work instructions. QS 9000 resulted from efforts by the Automotive Industry The automotive industry is the industry involved in the design, development, manufacture, marketing, and sale of motor vehicles. In 2006, more than 69 million motor vehicles, including cars and commercial vehicles were produced worldwide.  Action Group (AIGA) to standardize supplier management programs for the automotive industry. Hitachi's official certification date is December 5, 1995. Maintenance of the certification is accomplished by semi-annual audits from a third party assessor.

Hitachi Automotive Products (USA), Inc. manufactures a wide range of automotive products, including air flow meters, throttle bodies, engine and transmission control modules, alternators, distributors, ignition coils and idle speed Idle speed is the minimum operating speed (generally measured in revolutions per minute, or rpm, of the crankshaft) of a combustion engine. At idle speed, the engine generates enough power to run reasonably smoothly and operate its ancillaries (water pump, alternator, and, if  control valves. The plant recently started manufacturing a sensing diagnostic module for electronic air bags systems.

Hitachi Automotive Products also operates the Technical Center in Farmington Hills, Michigan Farmington Hills is the most populous city in Oakland County of the U.S. state of Michigan. It is a suburb of Detroit and is known for it's affluence, excellent schools, great housing stock, luxury homes and a center of business in Oakland County and Metro Detroit. . The center provides engineering, design and development support. To date, it has developed high-quality sensors and control units that are used to reduce car emissions and increase fuel economy while also meeting government diagnostic regulations.
