Hitachi Semiconductor (America) Inc. broadens its relationship with Lexmark International, Inc. today with the announcement that Hitachi's SuperH(TM) architecture was selected by Lexmark to power its recently introduced MarkNet(TM) Pro print servers.

Specifically, Hitachi's SH-2, 32-bit RISC processor is instrumental in the MarkNet Pro's increased throughput, whice/performance.

According to Lexmark, the decision to use the Hitachi SH7604 is based on the device's exceptional price/performance ratio and its code density. The high code density of the device enables Lexmark to use less memohe 4Kbyte four-way associative cache allowed Lexmark to fine-tune their implementation for outstanding performance.
