Hitachi, Osaka University Measure Reversibility of Damage to Motor Function.
Tokyo, Japan, May 22, 2006 - (JCN) - Hitachi has succeeded in quantitatively measuring the reversibility of damage to motor function as a result of cerebral dysfunction.
In collaboration with Osaka University and the National Cardiovascular Center (NCVC NCVC - National Cardiovascular Center (Japan) NCVC - National Center for Victims of Crime), the Company used magnetic coils attached to two fingers to measure the distance between the fingers and analyze their movement. The magnetic sensor system measures the recovery of finger movement so it can confirm the effects of medication and track progress in rehabilitation.
Details of the research were presented at the 47th Annual Meeting of the Japanese Society of Neurology, held in Tokyo on May 11.
