Located on famed Asian trade routes known as the Silk Road, the Buddhas has monks. In June, a Thai official proposed rebuilding the sculptures in Thailand from their remnants. The Silk Road was an interconnecting series of trade routes that spanned Eurasia, allowing merchants to transport goods from one area to another. It was primarily used between from about 100 BC to 1500 AD. Although a variety of items including gunpowder, bamboo, grapes and jade were transported by camel along the route, it was the mass of silk that came from China that gave the Silk Road its name.
