In the U.S. the term was formerly also used to refer to institutions of higher learning for women, often teachers' colleges. in Alexandria, Va., and the Historical Society of the Episcopal Church Episcopal Church, Anglican church of the United States. Its separate existence as an American ecclesiastical body with its own episcopate began in 1789. Historical Collection at the seminary's Bishop Payne Library. The collection will include oral histories, documents, institutional records and photographs that chronicle the lives and experiences of African American Episcopalians. The library will build additional archival space in the summer of 2003 to accommodate the collection. Materials will be available for scholarly research and for the education of the wider church. |
