WHO: Platinum-selling rap artist Fat Joe, Boost Mobile RockCorps
- an "around the way revolution" that is empowering young
adults with the motivation and resources necessary to create
immediate, long-lasting improvements to communities in need.
WHAT: Boost Mobile RockCorps is combining the power of music,
community and volunteerism to breed a new generation of
volunteers. In exchange for contributing four hours of
community service work at Boost Mobile RockCorps projects,
youth volunteers will receive tickets to popular music
concerts in their area. Boost Mobile RockCorps is
partnering with non-profit agencies to organize 50 charity
projects this summer offering young people the opportunity
to get involved in various volunteer organizations and
projects throughout the nation.
The Boost Mobile RockCorps movement returns this weekend to
Washington, D.C., after successful volunteer efforts in Los
Angeles, Minneapolis, Arlington, Va., and Chicago. The
weekend's event supports the Latin American Youth Center.
Local youth-oriented radio stations are helping recruit
Boost Mobile RockCorps volunteers and are awarding community
service spots to lucky listeners. Selected volunteers who
complete their four hours of community service at the
designated projects will receive tickets, at no charge, to
WPGC's Labor Day Mix Off on Sept. 5.
