The new venue was designed to maintain the preservation, restoration and reconstruction of the historically significant elements of both the Apollo and Lyric theaters. "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang" is the first production to play in the newly renamed Hilton Theatre, with previews beginning Sunday, March 27, 2005 and officially opening on Thursday, April 28, 2005. As one of the largest theatrical venues in New York, the Hilton Theatre will be a home for Broadway's biggest hits for years to come.
