Hill AFB to Benefit: Karta Selected as a Prime Contractor for Defense Contract Valued at up to $1.9 Billion.

SAN ANTONIO -- Karta Technologies, Inc. (Karta), the largest privately held defense contractor headquartered in San Antonio, has been selected by the United States Air Force to be among a small group of companies allowed to compete for portions of a contract worth up to $1.9 billion over the next five years.

Karta is a prime contractor for the indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity contract with the Air Force. The purpose of the contract is to provide rapid, high-quality engineering and technical services to the Air Force Air Logistics Center, Air Force Materiel Command (AFMC), the Army's Tank-Automotive and Armaments Command (TACOM), Department of Defense agencies, and other government entities (e.g., NASA, DOT, DOS, EPA, OSHA, etc.).

Outstanding past performance within OO-ALC, Ogden UT, resulted in Karta Technologies, along with its industry-leading team partners, being awarded as a small business prime contractor on the recently awarded 5yr/$1.9B ID/IQ DESP II contract. Karta has established a distinguished performance record for providing solutions to customer requirements on a variety of programs involving engineering redesign, logistics support, test stand modernization, component obsolescence resolutions, and training courseware development.

Karta is currently supporting the 84 SCSG in redesigning the data transceiver and inertial systems unit of the Air Combat Training System, and is performing obsolescence and logistics analysis on the Milstar Obsolescence Resolution Program. Karta also provides substantial support to the 309 SMXG CAPRE Program, and is completing the design of a portable Hot Air Module for the AFRL/MLS-OL Advanced Composite office. Karta provides on-site customized training solutions for 309 MXW/OBHS, having developed more than 280 hours of Instructor-lead and Web-based training and video courses.

The contract, dubbed Design and Engineering Support Program (DESP II), has a wide scope aimed at technology and engineering services. DESP II also includes engineering tasks, such as concept exploration, systems analysis, prototype manufacturing, system integration, testing, modeling, and simulation.
