qualified EAP service providers to prepare their requisite EAP.

There are numerous consultants available to assist your building with the preparation and submission of your EAP. It is imperative to select an EAP service provider that will write an accurate plan that will be accepted by the FDNY and, more importantly, a plan that correctly prepares your property for an emergency situation.

To be sure be sure you are hiring a qualified firm, one needs to first determine what type of experience the company has had in preparing emergency action plans to date.

Keep in mind that the Emergency Action Plan is designed to cover all non fire related emergencies. Be sure you carefully distinguish between the preparation of Fire Safety Plans and Emergency Action Plans.

The FDNY has supplied an emergency action plan format only. All EAP's submitted must follow the indicated format and all EAP providers must fill out a specific template. This form is a foundation for an Emergency Action Plan but does not prepare your property for the myriad of emergency events that can occur.

The ideal leading service providers will be comprised of experts such as former US federal agents, detectives from the NYPD's counter-terror units and former agents with the Israeli General Security Service. A large component of preparing your buildings staff and occupants how to respond to a non-fire related emergency is proper training and instruction. A qualified firm will have professional trainers who have served as instructors in law enforcement academies. Carefully analyze your prospective EAP service providers' background, credentials, training and experience. Look for EAP firms that have already written Emergency Action Plans for the New York City real estate community in the past.
