High-flying future; ANGELS AND AIRWAVES Carling Academy Birmingham.Byline: LIAM GRIFFINANGELS and Airwaves airwaves Noun, pl Informal radio waves used in radio and television broadcasting are currently on their first-ever UK tour - and an enthusiastic sell-out crowd laid on a red carpet welcome in Birmingham. Opening with Valkyrie Missile, the band, fronted by ex-Blink 182 star Tom Delonge, stormed through the entirety of their debut album We Don't Need To Whisper. The packed crowd was in good voice throughout, with the highlight of the night the highly popular The Adventure which sparked a mass singalong Noun 1. singalong - informal group singing of popular songs singsong singing, vocalizing - the act of singing vocal music . Other songs included in a raucous rau·cous adj. 1. Rough-sounding and harsh: raucous laughter. 2. Boisterous and disorderly: "the raucous give and take of American democracy" set list were Good Day, It Hurts, A Little's Enough and Start The Machine. Tom Delonge also took time out to share with the audience the origins of the band, as well as touching on other subjects such as his childhood, September 11 and his brother's military service in Iraq. Well worth a mention was opening act Cord who put on a strong performance. A highly enjoyable evening which also promises a healthy future for Angels and Airwaves. VERDICT: **** What do you think?
