Before launching Tackett Communications, Tackett was the director of public relations public relations, activities and policies used to create public interest in a person, idea, product, institution, or business establishment. By its nature, public relations is devoted to serving particular interests by presenting them to the public in the most  for ON Semiconductor, a leading supplier of power-management semiconductor devices. In this position, he managed the corporate communications, media relations and employee communications functions for a $1.3 billion enterprise with more than 10,000 employees worldwide.

Leading up to his experience at ON Semiconductor, Tackett was the manager of media relations and issues management for Motorola Systems Solutions Group (now General Dynamic Decision Systems) in Scottsdale, Ariz. Before relocating to Arizona, Tackett worked as a public relations manager at Cisco Systems in San Jose, Calif.

Tackett started his public relations career in the U.S. Army where he commanded a Public Affairs Detachment (PAD) and served as the media relations officer for Fort Lewis, Wash. During his 11-year career in the U.S. Army, Tackett performed a tour of duty on the Korean Demilitarized Zone For Panmunjom or Joint Security Area, see Joint Security Area.
