High- profile gang of call girls busted.

INFLATION may be going through the roof but that certainly hasn't hit the world's oldest profession.

The Delhi Police have busted a high- profile sex racket in the Capital, where customers were ready to shell out anything between ` 30,000 to ` 1 lakh for one night of " pleasure". The police also arrested six Uzbek women, including the alleged pimp, from a posh Chhatarpur farmhouse in south Delhi.

The police said on Wednesday they would have busted the racket earlier but for the IPL. " The prostitutes were in high demand during the IPL season. We managed to bust the racket only after our decoy customer managed to reach the target after the IPL ended. The prostitutes were booked in advance for several highprofile customers during the cricketing extravaganza," a police officer said on Wednesday.

Although the police remained tight- lipped about the clientele of the racket that was active since 2009, sources revealed that many " influential and powerful" people of the Capital had used the services of the members of the racket.

This is the first highprofile bust by the police this year even as the Indian pimp of the racket is still on the run. All those arrested are in the age group of 27- 33 years.

Gulnaaz, the 33- year- old alleged pimp, first came to Delhi in 2009 and has been extending her visa on several grounds since, including medical reasons. She was popular through word of mouth. To solidify her base in the Capital, she also solemnised the marriage on paper of one of her popular girls with an Indian man -- who was paid money -- to enable the bride to get a multiple entry visa on marital grounds.

" She arranged for their transport and accommodation in the city. She also convened meetings of clients with the girls and fixed the price according to the perceived paying capacity of the client," Sanjay Kumar Jain, deputy commissioner of police ( crime), said. The customers were entertained only after they provided a reference from a trusted client.

According to the police, the Capital is estimated to have around 3,500 prostitutes from Russia and the former Soviet Union. The foreign ministry had instructed its embassies in four former Soviet states to carefully screen all tourist visa applications from women between the ages of 15 and 40. " We would intimate the Uzbek embassy regarding the arrest and they will act accordingly," Jain added.

The police have booked the accused under the Immoral Trafficking Act and Foreigners Act.
