High capacity baling of recyclables.

Evergreen Paper Recycling Paper recycling is the process of recovering waste paper and remaking it into new paper products. There are three categories of paper that can be used as feedstocks for making recycled paper: mill broke, pre-consumer waste, and post-consumer waste.  located in Fort Worth, Texas Fort Worth is the fifth-largest city in the state of Texas, 18th-largest city in the United States[1], and voted one of "America’s Most Livable Communities. , was using a typical two-ram baler to bale bale

1. a package of wool in a wool pack weighing 150-250 lb depending largely on whether it is greasy or scoured.

2. a compressed bundle of hay, either about 100 lb tied with wire or twine, or large, round, untied bales, as big as a small hay stack and referred to as 'big bales'.
approximately 5,000 to 6,000 tons per month of recyclable paper. This process required six days each week using two shifts.

In an effort to be more efficient, Evergreen began to research different methods to improve its operation, which included reviewing its processing equipment. The search led to Sierra International Machinery and Macpresse baling equipment. This high-capacity single-ram baler was able to process all the monthly tonnage in a single shift, five days per week. The end result was a reduction of employees with no baler operator required, handling of fewer bales, significant savings in electrical costs and substantial improvements in equipment reliability.

Evergreen achieved many advantages when it upgraded to a high-capacity horizontal baler in place of a traditional two-ram baling system. The most obvious advantage was the elimination of a full-time baler operator. All functions of the Sierra high-capacity horizontal baler are completely automatic.

"The Macpresse system has consistently performed better than I expected and processes material faster than represented in sales discussions," says Tim Haugh haugh

Evergreen increased production from an average of 14 to 16 tons per hour to 34 to 37 tons per hour for OCC OCC

. Re-baled OCC is baled at a rate of 39 to 41 tons per hour, The weights and densities of the Sierra bales are much higher, with OCC bales weighing approximately 2,200 pounds. This is a 600- to 700-pound-per-bale increase.

Handling larger and heavier bales requires fewer employees to perform the same amount of work. Wear and tear on forklifts and other equipment is noticeably decreased because of handling 25 percent fewer bales.

Evergreen Paper has received favorable comments from paper mills regarding the dense, square, heavy bales produced by the Sierra system. Now, more tons can be stored in a smaller space. Maximum shipping weights are achieved in export containers and over-the-road vans.

The monthly electrical bill has decreased by approximately 30 percent, even though the new baler uses the same amount of horsepower horsepower, unit of power in the English system of units. It is equal to 33,000 foot-pounds per minute or 550 foot-pounds per second or approximately 746 watts.  as the older baler. This is achieved by using a more efficient hydraulic system Noun 1. hydraulic system - a mechanism operated by the resistance offered or the pressure transmitted when a liquid is forced through a small opening or tube  and high-efficiency motors.
