This volume of Brooks' enormously popular Shannara series is the first book in a new trilogy and takes up the action of Voyage of the Jerle Shannara Jerle Shannara, King of the Elves, is a fictional character from Terry Brooks' Shannara series of high fantasy novels. A historical figure in the original The Sword of Shannara trilogy, he is one of the main characters of the prequel novel : Morgawr 20 years later. BC. ; but when she goes missing from her guarded bedroom it's her adolescent nephew Pen, elf Ahren Elessedil and his niece Khyber, and Grianne's own servant, Tagwen the dwarf, who combine forces to rescue the High Druid of Shannara.

Read quite dramatically and formally by Brick, this epic fantasy may seem formulaic to some extent for some listeners. Others will be thrilled to be back in the land of Shannara and will look forward to the next two entries in the trilogy to discover more about Pen and Ahren. The names, of course, are complicated, the characters are many, and the story is long. Brick's rendition ren·di·tion
