Sandford finally chose a location for one of his 'Prey' novels that matches up with my own haunts. You can't get an un-biased review from me on 'Hidden Prey' but does it really matter? There are sixteen bestselling 'Prey' novels. With any luck, there should be at least sixteen more. A Russian seaman is executed on the docks of Duluth. It is eventually discovered that he has high government connections. Suddenly, a local murder becomes international. A Russian investigator is sent to Duluth. 'Hidden Prey' is another great detective novel. If you live in or near the Iron Range or Duluth, you have to read it. Sandford has picked up just enough of the people and region to make the tale our own. He didn't find everything so there is hope another 'Prey' novel in Northeastern Minnesota will follow. Out-of-state readers will enjoy the cast of local characters and regional details. 'Hidden Prey' is a hard edged, richly detailed and thrilling detective story that anyone can enjoy. S.A.
