Hibernia National Bank Extends Imaging Initiative; New Orleans Bank Chooses ImageSoft Technologies to Accommodate Growth and Need for Greater Functionality.

MAITLAND, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 20, 1999--

ImageSoft Technologies, a Fiserv resource based in Maitland, Florida Maitland is a city in Orange County, Florida, United States. The population was 12,019 at the 2000 census. As of 2006, the population recorded by the U.S. Census Bureau is 14,172[1]. , announced today that Hibernia National Bank For other uses of "Hibernia", see Hibernia (disambiguation).

Hibernia National Bank, founded in 1870, was a personal banking and commercial lending institution headquartered in New Orleans, Louisiana.
, a $15 billion-asset institution headquartered in New Orleans New Orleans (ôr`lēənz –lənz, ôrlēnz`), city (2006 pop. 187,525), coextensive with Orleans parish, SE La., between the Mississippi River and Lake Pontchartrain, 107 mi (172 km) by water from the river mouth; founded , Louisiana, has chosen the Titan suite of image-enabled applications to extend its image deployment initiative.

The system will include Titan modules for electronic distribution, Image Library, InternetDirect, and HyperText hypertext, technique for organizing computer databases or documents to facilitate the nonsequential retrieval of information. Related pieces of information are connected by preestablished or user-created links that allow a user to follow associative trails across the . These join Titan modules for Acquisition, Archive, and ImageBanc II previously installed within Hibernia.

industry. When Hibernia was acquiring Calcasieu Marine National Bank, it discovered that the acquired institution had several image-based applications already deployed. These were the Titan applications of Acquisition, Archive and ImageBanc II for image statements.

Donald Barry, Senior Vice President/Operations of Hibernia, said the bank wanted to implement an enterprise-wide, image-based system. Since the Calcasieu system was configured con·fig·ure

for a small community bank, Hibernia did not know if the existing platform was capable of handling the volume and functionality requirements necessary for an enterprise-wide deployment.

"As a result, we conducted an industry-wide search of image technology vendors. We ultimately realized that the ImageSoft products implemented at Calcasieu could be upgraded to serve the needs of Hibernia as a whole by simply adding hardware and upgrading to the most current Titan release," Barry said. Further, ImageSoft offered a number of other products that Barry believed were critical to Hibernia's image initiative, such as electronic distribution and an Internet delivery module.

Beyond product issues, the newly released system administration support and account management that ImageSoft provided during the decision process also swayed the bank's decision.

Since beginning its imaging initiative, Hibernia has seen its organization grow substantially and, as a result, processing volumes have grown as well. The new system - featuring an upgraded archive module - is fully capable of handling escalating volumes, as well as expansion into many other areas of the organization. This is accomplished through the Titan suite's flexible, open architecture, allowing for growth and expansion of products.

"We have plans to provide images to our home banking applications and to give image access to our branch operations. The expanded Titan-Archive application can provide us just such a flexible repository to serve those needs," Barry said.

With the increased reach of the Titan system, many of the bank's departments will be touched, including operations, retail banking, and treasury management. In particular, the Electronic Distribution module, which allows banks to deliver check images via CD-ROM CD-ROM: see compact disc.

technology to their corporate customers, will be an opportunity for Hibernia to generate greater fee income and provide new technology to its customer base.

Hibernia also has chosen the dynamic functionality of Image Library, the universal workstation and viewing tool. With an easy-to-use graphical interface See GUI. , Image Library provides intelligent and logical front-end workstation application controls. Further, the InternetDirect product will provide this very same Image Library software via the Internet, thus reducing training and version control issues.

The new Titan applications will be phased in quickly, with Electronic Distribution the first order of business. This will be followed by upgrades to the archive system and deployment of Image Library. Then HyperText and InternetDirect will be implemented.

Following the completion of pending mergers, Hibernia would be a $15.0-billion-asset banking organization with 258 banking locations in 34 Louisiana parishes and 13 Texas counties. It ranks first, second or third in deposit market share in 32 Louisiana parishes and five Texas counties. Hibernia's Louisiana markets represent approximately 82% of the state's population and 86% of its deposits. Its statewide Louisiana deposit share is 21%.
