(Aeropuertos Espanoles y Navegacion Aerea), with the participation of 5 other Spanish anti-terrorist police TEDAX units. The Barcelona TEDAX unit's visit to Irvine was originally scheduled for February 4, 2004.

The AENA demonstration was originally planned for December 2003 following a visit by AENA inspectors to HiEnergy's Irvine test site in September. The demonstration has been postponed because AENA's environmental safety permit is for the use of X-rays only. HiEnergy's MiniSenzor and SuperSenzor require the permit from the Spanish Ministry of Economics, who recognizes the Company's California permits. The Ministry has informed HiEnergy's rep in Spain that the Spanish permit will be issued within weeks, enabling HiEnergy to ship its readily available equipment.

In October 2003, HiEnergy and AENA agreed to form a collaborative effort to use HiEnergy's Stoichiometer technology to improve the security of Spain's airports, which offers a safe alternative to invasive hand-searches. "We have combined this training seminar with the demonstration for pragmatic reasons," said Dr. Bogdan Maglich Dr. Bogdan C. "By demonstrating the effectiveness of our technology at a real-world location such as Madrid airport, we feel that more credibility will be lent to the system as a commercially available tool for detecting explosives rather than as a science experiment. In-house demonstrations are invaluable for the scientific community, but are less valuable to our potential customers in the U.S. and abroad. Barcelona's anti-terror police will now be trained using a real world set-up in their own country."

HiEnergy's Stoichiometer, used in the CarBomb Finder 3C3, is a remote detector of bombs in trunks, seats and engines of parked or moving vehicles. The Stoichiometer is the only known currently available device that can obtain the chemical formulas of substances through steel non-invasively and on-line.

It has been developed through several years of research funded by both the private sector and contracts from the Department of Defense and U.S. Customs.

Currently, HiEnergy is under contract with the U.S. Army to develop a Stoichiometer prototype for anti-tank landmine detection. The first field test is scheduled for March 15, 2004.
