Hi-Tec Adventure Racing Series Returns to Miami; Oleta River Recreation Area to Host Event for Fourth Consecutive Year.

The Adventure continues Sunday, June 4, when the Hi-Tec Adventure Racing Series(R), officially sanctioned by USA Adventure Racing, returns to Miami for the fourth consecutive year.

Always one of the most popular races on the Hi-Tec Adventure Racing Series calendar, the event will be held at Oleta River The Oleta River, situated north of Miami, drains the northern Everglades into Biscayne Bay, allowing freshwater to reach the Atlantic Ocean. Today, it is the only natural river in Miami-Dade County that has not been dredged and channelized.  Recreation Area and is scheduled to begin at 8 a.m. As the second stop of the 2000 8-city tour, the Miami event has attracted the planet's top adventure racers.

Teams of three will battle the elements as well as each other in the disciplines of trail running, kayaking Kayaking is the use of a kayak for moving across water. Kayaking is differentiated from canoeing by the fact that a kayak has a closed cockpit and a canoe has an open cockpit. They also use a two bladed paddle. . Other teams scheduled to participate in Miami include Team Hi-Tec, owners of 17 consecutive top-five Series finishes; Team Balance Bar, winners of five races in 1999, anchored by Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. resident Sylvia Corbett, and the Playboy Xtreme Team featuring three Playboy centerfolds, annual top-five finishers in the all-female division.

The adventure continues into the new millennium! The Hi-Tec Adventure Racing Series is the perfect test for adventure racing professionals Racing Professionals is a racing team owned by Indy Racing League driver Jon Herb. Herb formed the team in the middle of the 2001 season and competed in a total of eight races at the end of that season and the 2002 season. Herb failed to qualify for an additional two races.  as well as "weekend warriors." Following the Miami event, the Series continues with stops in Atlanta (June 18), Dallas (July 16), Sacramento (Aug. 19), Hartford (Sept. 9), Pittsburgh (Oct. 1), and New York New York, state, United States
New York, Middle Atlantic state of the United States. It is bordered by Vermont, Massachusetts, Connecticut, and the Atlantic Ocean (E), New Jersey and Pennsylvania (S), Lakes Erie and Ontario and the Canadian province of
 (Oct. 22).
