Hexcel Corporation, which makes honeycomb composites, reinforcement fabrics and resins for aerospace, defense and industrial markets, signed a letter of intent to buy BASF's prepreg and adhesives operations in Anaheim, CA. BASF, which is divesting its structural adhesives business, has been unable to find a buyer for its carbon fiber operations, so it will begin an orderly phasedown of production.
