Hexcel Corporation.

Hexcel Corporation, which makes honeycomb composites, reinforcement fabrics and resins for aerospace, defense and industrial markets, signed a letter of intent to buy BASF's prepreg and adhesives operations in Anaheim, CA. BASF, which is divesting its structural adhesives business, has been unable to find a buyer for its carbon fiber operations, so it will begin an orderly phasedown of production. The entire carbon fiber plant, located in Rock Hill, SC, will be shut down by the end of the first half of 1993, affecting some 200 employees at the plant.
