Heritage Ball benefit to honor design, civic leaders.On Thursday, October 11, 2007, the AIA AIA - Application Integration Architecture New York New York, state, United States New York, Middle Atlantic state of the United States. It is bordered by Vermont, Massachusetts, Connecticut, and the Atlantic Ocean (E), New Jersey and Pennsylvania (S), Lakes Erie and Ontario and the Canadian province of Chapter and the Center for Architecture Foundation will gather leading New Yorkers at the annual Heritage Ball. The fast selling benefit gala, to be held at Chelsea Piers' Pier 60, recognizes the contributions of outstanding individuals and organizations to the physical, cultural, and civic environment of New York. The American Institute of Architects The American Institute of Architects (AIA) is a professional organization for architects in the United States. Organized in 1857, the Institute conducts various activities and programs to support the profession and enhance its public image, including periodically awarding the AIA New York Chapter and the Center for Architecture Foundation are privileged to recognize the following exceptional individuals at Heritage Ball 2007. Michael R. Bloomberg, Mayor of the City of New York, will receive the 2007 Center for Architecture Award, for his dedication to the improvement of the City's urban fabric through the Design and Construction Excellence Initiative. George H. Miller George H. Miller Ph.D. was appointed the interim director of the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) by the University of California on March 15, 2006. Dr. Miller, an employee of the university for 34 years, replaced Michael Anastasio, who left LLNL to head Los Alamos , FAIA FAIA Florida Association of Insurance Agents FAIA Food Additives and Ingredients Association (Kent, UK) FAIA Fellow, American Institute of Architects (honorary position) , partner at Pei Cobb Freed & Partners, will be honored with the 2007 President's Award, for his dedication to furthering the architectural profession both at home and abroad. Joan K. Davidson, Hon. AIA, president emeritus of The J.M. Kaplan Fund and President of the Fund's Furthermore program, will be recognized with the 2007 AIA New York Chapter Award for her exemplary dedication to the enhancement of the quality of life in New York's built environment. The 2007 Foundation Award will be presented to Architecture for Humanity Architecture for Humanity is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization that seeks architectural solutions to humanitarian crises and brings design services to communities in need. It was founded in 1999 by Cameron Sinclair and Kate Stohr. for their humanitarian efforts in creating linkages for architects and designers from around the world to help communities in need. Douglas C. Mass, PE, LEED[R] AP, president of Cosentini Associates, will serve as Chair of the Heritage Ball Dinner Committee. While recognizing the accomplishments of the honorees, the Heritage Bali also serves as a source of funding for the Center for Architecture and its educational programs, exhibitions, scholarships, and special projects. |
