Queer cinema needs another coming-out story like the world needs another TV series starring Tyra Banks. Yet young filmmakers stay under the delusion
bizarre delusion  one that is patently absurd, with no possible basis in fact.
delusion of control  the delusion that one's thoughts, feelings, and actions are not one's own but are being imposed by someone else or other external force.
depressive delusion  one that is congruent with a predominant depressed mood.
that their story is very different from yours and mine. Bardwell's--I mean Dorian's--story is that he's an alienated high-school fashion victim who is bad at sports. Remarkably, be also has a supportive and hunky little brother who's so cool, he's more popular than Dorian, even at a gay bar. Ultimately, Dorian finds his place in the world--New York City--and realizes it doesn't matter what his dead dad thinks. We should all be so lucky.
