Julie Kent Julie Kent (born 1969 in Bethesda, Maryland) with birth name Julie Cox, is an American ballerina. Kent trained at the Academy of the Maryland Youth Ballet in Bethesda, MD. After winning the Prix de Lausanne in 1986, Kent joined the American Ballet Theatre as an apprentice. , three-time Dance Magazine cover girl and American Ballet Theatre American Ballet Theatre, one of the foremost international dance companies of the 20th cent. It was founded in 1937 as the Mordkin Ballet and reorganized as the Ballet Theatre in 1940 under the direction of Lucia Chase and Rich Pleasant.  principal, celebrated her 20th anniversary with ABT ABT About

 with delicate abandon and a steely power. Marcelo Gomes portrayed Romeo. And when the dancing was over, adoring fans overwhelmed Kent with standing ovations and countless curtain calls. Confetti rained down on a celebrity guest list of current and past colleagues who streamed out of the wings to honor her. Perhaps the most touching moment happened when Kent's husband, Victor Barbee, escorted their 2-year-old son William, clad in suit and red tie, out to give his mom a hug.
