Henninger Interactive Media, the multimedia arm of Henninger Media Services, was recently selected by Coastal Training Technologies Corp., a leading publisher of training media worldwide, to assist with the development of a custom demonstration DVD of Coastal's award-winning interactive training products.

The co-produced demo featured content from Coastal's award-winning training programs and DVD programming by Henninger. It premiered at the National Safety Council's (NSC) 88th Annual Congress and Expo in Orlando, Fla. last October.

"The DVD version of our courseware was very well received by the safety professionals in attendance," said Nancy Kondas, vice president of production at Coastal. "Henninger's DVD programming and execution expertise on this project was invaluable." Kondas noted that the Virginia Beach, Va.-based publisher is currently discussing additional DVD projects with Henninger.

According to Tom McCarthy, Henninger's director of DVD service, the DVD features the ability to access weblinks and pdf files from a DVD drive without ever having to leave the DVD-Video. It is all integrated on the DVD. In other words, the DVD looks the same on a set top player as it does on a DVD drive in a computer.

"The only difference is that on the computer the weblinks are 'live,'" McCarthy explained. "It will launch your browser so the client can access OSHA information. This is crucial for this safety-awareness training DVD.

"If someone wants to check something, they don't need to search for the manual -- it's on the disc and they can print the page they want. If they want up to date info on the latest OSHA regulations, the disc will take them to the right place."

John Rossi, Coastal's manager of postproduction services, stated that the collaboration process on the project was efficient, cordial, cost-effective and relatively seamless.

"If we had problems, Henninger was always there to help," Rossi said. "From beginning to end it's been a wonderful experience."
